The Kettle Seller Policy is incorporated into and forms part of the Kettle Terms of Service. By listing items for sale on Kettle, sellers agree to the following requirements, standards, and processes.
Kettle’s platform offers a step-by-step process to list items for sale. Sellers can upload photos, enter item details, set prices, and specify the condition of each watch. For assistance with listing items, sellers can contact us at support@kettle.shop
Sellers can send their items on consignment to store in the Kettle Vault, where our team will professionally photograph them. Watches listed with Kettle Vault photography are eligible for Kettle Express—our instant fulfillment program—allowing buyers to purchase pre-authenticated items that will transact with instant settlement. Upon the purchase of a Kettle Express item, the funds will be transferred immediately to the seller’s account and the title of the watch will be transferred to the buyer. This process not only enhances listing quality with high-resolution images but also gives buyers confidence in the item’s authenticity and condition, promoting faster sales.
Kettle enforces strict photo guidelines to maintain quality and transparency across all listings. All photos must represent the actual watch in your possession and must highlight any details related to its condition.
Complete View: Include the watch, box, and any papers in clear view.
Bright Lighting: Photos should be well-lit, ideally taken in natural or direct light.
Detail Clarity: Ensure brand markings, dials, hands, and other details are legible.
No Additional Objects: Keep the frame free of other objects, patterns, or personal items.
Required Angles: Provide all necessary angles (front, back, close-ups) to meet Kettle’s standards.
Privacy: Exclude personal information, including serial numbers, for privacy and security.
You can edit your listings by going to the Sell tab and update the details of your listing. Remember to save changes to ensure they’re reflected in your listing.
After a sale, sellers receive a fully insured shipping label, which must be used to ship the item to Kettle within 72 hours. This ensures a fast and reliable transaction for buyers. Sellers who fail to ship within this timeframe may incur penalties, including a status downgrade, increased fees, or suspension of their account.
Sellers are encouraged to discreetly mark their package (e.g., with initials or a small identifying symbol) for added peace of mind. This personal identifier helps you recognize if the package has been tampered with during transit, increasing security.
Once a sale is made the buyer’s funds will be held in escrow. In order to provide for a fair experience for all Kettle users, sellers cannot cancel a sale without incurring a penalty.
Kettle is committed to maintaining a trusted marketplace by ensuring all watches meet the highest standards of authenticity and functionality. The Mediation Policy outlines the steps and options available to sellers when a watch is found to be misrepresented or includes prohibited elements such as after-market parts.
1. After-Market Parts:
Kettle does not accept watches with any after-market parts or components.
Examples include but are not limited to: non-genuine bezels, dials, hands, or bracelets.
2. Non-Functional Watches:
If a watch is found to be non-functional or requires repair (e.g., movement issues, battery replacement).
3. Misrepresented Condition:
If the listed condition (e.g., "excellent") does not match the actual state of the watch upon inspection.
The seller will receive a detailed report outlining the discrepancies identified during Kettle’s authentication process.
Photos or videos documenting the identified problems will be included for transparency.
Option 1: Rectify the Issue Through Kettle’s Services
Sellers may opt to pay for Kettle’s services to resolve the identified issue. This could include replacing after-market parts with genuine components or repairing the watch.
Kettle will provide an estimate for the service fee, which the seller must approve before work begins.
Option 2: Watch Returned to Seller
Sellers may choose to have the watch returned at their expense, plus an additional penalty fee. This option is available if they do not wish to proceed with rectification through Kettle.
If after-market parts are identified, the seller can:
Approve the replacement of the parts with genuine components by Kettle.
Cover the associated service fee to ensure the watch meets Kettle’s listing standards.
Once the parts are replaced, the watch will be authenticated and listed for sale.
If a watch is non-functional, Kettle will provide:
A diagnostic report detailing the necessary repairs.
An estimate for repair costs.
The seller can authorize the repairs and cover the service fee to proceed with listing.
Kettle will aim to resolve mediation cases within 3 business days after inspecting the watch, depending on the complexity of the issue and seller approval timelines.
Scenario 1: A seller lists a Rolex with a non-genuine bezel. The bezel is flagged during authentication. The seller agrees to pay for a genuine bezel replacement through Kettle. Once replaced, the watch is listed as a genuine Rolex, and the seller’s account remains in good standing.
Scenario 2: A Patek Philippe watch is found to have movement issues and does not function properly. Kettle contacts the seller with a repair estimate. The seller approves the repairs, pays the service fee, and the watch is listed as functional and ready for sale.
Scenario 3: A seller lists a watch in "mint condition," but upon inspection, significant scratches are found on the case. The seller is notified and opts to have the watch returned at their expense.
If a seller does not respond to mediation notifications within 7 business days, Kettle reserves the right to return the item at the seller’s expense and may charge additional administrative fees.
Sellers with repeated mediation issues may face account suspension or increased service fees.
Kettle will email you a prepaid, fully insured shipping label upon order confirmation. Follow these steps to complete the shipping process:
1. Print the Shipping Label: Use only the label provided by Kettle to ensure accurate tracking and insurance coverage.
2. Double-Box Packaging: Place the watch securely in an inner box, then place it in a larger outer box for added protection.
3. Identify with a Discreet Mark: Mark your package for personal verification. This discreet identifier helps you detect any signs of tampering after the fact.
4. Remove Previous Labels: If reusing a box, remove any old labels or stickers.
5. Schedule a Drop-Off: Use an authorized shipping location and ensure the package is scanned within 2 business days to maintain timely fulfillment.
Important: If your watch’s sale price exceeds $10,000, ship it on a weekday for next-day delivery to ensure adequate insurance coverage.
Separate Packaging: Ship each sale in its own package using the specific shipping label provided by Kettle.
Local Shipping Only: Ship items from within the country or region referenced in your return address.
Timely Fulfillment: If your sale is not confirmed within 24 hours or shipped within 2 business days, Kettle reserves the right to cancel the sale and charge any associated costs to the seller.
Kettle requires that all watches be sent to our facility for an authentication and inspection process before they reach the buyer. Each watch is professionally authenticated, recorded in high-definition video, and issued a certificate of authenticity, ensuring transparency and quality assurance.
If your watch fails authentication due to counterfeit components or misrepresentation, Kettle reserves the right to take action, including returning the item to you at your expense, suspending your seller account, and withholding funds.
Kettle’s service fee is 2.5% per transaction. Fees may vary or be uniquely adjusted based on seller performance and status, incentivizing quality and reliability.
Sellers may be assigned status levels based on their performance and transaction volume.
Consistently accurate listings and timely fulfillment may qualify sellers for reduced service fees.
Poor performance (e.g., cancellations, misrepresented items) may result in higher fees or suspension.
Further details on fee thresholds and service levels to be established based on Kettle’s pricing structure.
Sellers will receive their earnings once their watches have passed Kettle’s authentication process. Funds will be available for withdrawal after Kettle authenticates the watch and approves the settlement of the transaction. As soon as the transaction settles, the funds will be released into the seller’s account.
As a unique benefit, Kettle offers a 1% perpetual royalty to the initial seller of each watch introduced to the marketplace. Each time the watch is resold on Kettle, the original seller earns a 1% royalty on the secondary sale price, providing a recurring revenue opportunity for sellers who bring valuable pieces to the platform. Royalties are credited to the seller’s account at the end of each month based on any eligible secondary sales that occurred during that period.
Withdrawals are processed through the Kettle app, where sellers can choose to keep a crypto balance or transfer funds to their bank account via ACH or wire.
To maintain a safe marketplace, Kettle requires all sellers to verify their identity with a government-issued ID and address verification. This information is kept secure and is used only for account verification and order processing.
Sellers are responsible for tracking and reporting any applicable income from sales on Kettle. Depending on federal and state requirements, Kettle may issue a 1099-K form for sellers who meet certain income and transaction thresholds. Sellers should consult their tax advisor for reporting requirements.
If a seller attempts to sell counterfeit items, misrepresents a watch’s condition, or fails to follow shipping and fulfillment policies, Kettle reserves the right to:
1. Suspend or permanently close the seller’s account.
2. Withhold payments until disputes are resolved.
3. Charge the seller for costs incurred due to violations.
4. Report counterfeit items to law enforcement, if applicable.
Kettle takes a transparent and fair approach to seller evaluations. While negative buyer experiences do not impact seller status or fees, performance issues identified during Kettle’s authentication process can lead to increased fees or downgraded status.
